What is CGP?
CGP is a type of cancer genomic testing that finds the unique “fingerprint” of a patient’s tumour to help determine how it behaves and grows. Every cancer is unique, so we believe insights generated through CGP are an essential tool to fight cancer, helping physicians to make a quick and informed treatment decision that is tailored to the individual patient, potentially achieving better clinical outcomes.
Our proven portfolio
Our comprehensive testing portfolio is our foundation. Our three CGP tests analyse more than 300 genes known to drive cancer, as well as a range of genomic signatures, giving physicians and patients powerful actionable insights to help navigate the complex space of cancer care, delivered in a simple digestible format, 8-10 days from the point of sample testing.
1. FoundationOne®CDx: After establishing the company in 2010, the team worked hard to develop and launch our first CGP test, FoundationOne CDx, two years later. The test is now globally available and FDA-approved, and uses next-generation sequencing technology to analyse 324 cancer-related genes and three molecular signatures, including microsatellite instability and tumour mutational burden, in tissue samples from patients with solid tumours.
2. FoundationOne®HemeK: In 2013, we developed FoundationOne Heme, a CGP test that combines DNA and RNA sequencing for patients with hematologic malignancies, sarcomas or solid tumours. This test detects more than 400 DNA-sequenced genes and 265 RNA-sequenced genes across the four main classes of genomic alterations.
In recent years, the benefits of liquid biopsy have become clear. The ability to access genomic information from a simple blood draw means people with tumours in hard-to-reach locations are able to benefit from the insights of CGP.
3. FoundationOne Liquid CDx: In 2020, the U.S. FDA approved our FoundationOne®Liquid CDx, which analyses 324 cancer-related genes and multiple genomic signatures, including tumour fraction, in patients with solid tumours. It uses these insights and identifies alterations matched to FDA-approved therapies to present clear options to patients and physicians.
Through advancing the implementation of CGP worldwide, we are also contributing to faster, more efficient research and development, by helping uncover genomic data that leads to promising avenues of research for new targeted therapies. To support this, we recently launched the AVENIO Tumor Tissue CGP kit, currently available for research-use only, which is built on FoundationOne CDx technology and allows labs to conduct oncology research with CGP in-house, expanding personalised cancer research.

Expanding our reach
In addition, and central to our Roche-Foundation Medicine CGP offering is the FoundationCore® database. As one of the largest databases of real-world CGP results in oncology, the database provides us with rich genomic insights and is constantly growing. Together with Flatiron Health, we also utilise a joint research platform, the “clinico-genomic database”, combining our world-class genomic database with Flatiron Health’s leading real-world clinical outcomes data capabilities, translating into invaluable insights.
Roche-Foundation Medicine’s services have been launched in over 100 countries worldwide and, with more than 500,000 patient profiles sampled using tests from our portfolio, I am proud to say that our work is making a difference by helping to transform cancer care and improve outcomes for patients globally. To expand this footprint further, we have extensive partnerships with more than 65 biopharma partners, supporting with therapeutic development from discovery through to commercialisation and we seek to leverage important collaborations, such as the Precision Cancer Consortium.
